Common questions

Questions people ask before getting started.

Does using an insurance broker cost more?
HIFA is typically compensated by the insurer, so there is generally no separate broker fee for standard personal insurance. If a separate fee applies to a specific commercial placement, we explain it clearly before you proceed.
Do I need to switch insurers for HIFA to review my policy?
No. A review is a review. Send your current policy and we will explain what it covers, where the limits sit and whether it still matches your situation. If it is well matched and fairly priced, we will say so.
Can HIFA help with both business and personal insurance?
Yes, and it is one of the more useful things we do. Business owners routinely carry exposures that sit across the boundary — a vehicle used for both, a home office, personal guarantees, equipment stored at home. Seeing both sides is how those gaps get found.
Do I have to commit to anything to get a quote?
No. A quote is an offer of terms, not a contract. Nothing binds until you accept the terms and coverage is confirmed in writing. Submitting a form on this site does not create coverage.
What areas does HIFA serve?
Our office is in Burlington and most of our clients are in Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Milton, Hamilton and the surrounding western GTA. HIFA is licensed across Ontario, so we can help elsewhere in the province — we simply will not claim local knowledge we do not have.
What happens after I request a quote?
A broker reviews the details. HIFA identifies the missing information, the questions worth asking and the options worth considering. Review the coverage, the price and the trade-offs before deciding whether to proceed.
